What You Will Do
We like to say that we, engineers, are product-minded engineers. We don't see the technology as a goal but as the cost we pay to achieve our goal, which is Selling Lettuce (Vendiendo Lechugas). This mindset makes us participate in all the stages of the process and collaborate with other roles such as Product Managers, Product Designers, or Operations Managers, not just implementing the solution. Because we also like to say that we are data-driven, we have access to relevant data that lead us to make decisions. This makes us aware of what exact impact has had on what specific action we did as individuals and as a team.
You will be the person who ensures that in Mercadona Tech we are applying cybersecurity practices in code, infrastructure, communications, and during incidents. In addition, you will be the glue person in terms of cybersecurity between Mercadona Tech and Mercadona, so you can learn the already applied solutions in Mercadona that could fit in Mercadona Tech and vice-versa:
- You will work in continuous collaboration with Mercadona IT. A team with more than 50 cybersecurity experts.
- You will dig into our project, detect cybersecurity needings, and prioritize them.
- Implement cybersecurity practices on public cloud providers.
- Implement cybersecurity practices on Kubernetes.
- Define standard security criteria for our applications in collaboration with our developers. All our apps are developed in-house.
- Introduce tools that allow us to ensure that our apps accomplish our cybersecurity criteria following the DevSecOps philosophy.
- Manage changes on Mercadona IT tools and solutions like Firewalls, IDPs, or User and Group management.
Philosophy and Technology at our team:
- Our engineering values are strongly based on Extreme Programming, Agile, and Lean philosophies. So we expect that our software evolves in fast iterations and with high quality standards.
- Almost all of our applications are written in Python. The rest are Typescript, Kotlin, and Swift apps.
- We follow the DevOps philosophy, so we use CI/CD, full observability, and lightweight virtualization solutions.
- Most of the time we work in pairs or groups to define and implement solutions, and you will follow the same plan, not only with Mercadona Tech colleagues but with Mercadona IT colleagues too.
About You
As a
Cybersecurity Engineer with a product mindset in our dynamic e-commerce project, we seek an individual with a unique blend of technical expertise, creativity, and a deep understanding of the e-commerce & logistics landscape. As the ideal candidate, you are passionate about clean code, feedback loops, and Extreme Programming, but if you never put it into practice - don't worry. We will show you the way!
What You Already Bring To The Table
- Understand the principles of cryptography, including cryptographic algorithms, security protocols, key management, and practical applications in data protection and communications.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux and Unix).
- Understand the fundamentals of network architecture, communication protocols, routing and switching, as well as network security techniques such as firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, and wireless security.
- Experience in performing penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities in systems, networks and applications, using ethical hacking tools and techniques.
- Programming skills for developing attack tools and automating response use cases (e.g. Python, Powershell, Bash, etc.).
- Familiarity with security principles in software development, including secure coding practices.
