Location: UK

Salary - £40,000 to £44,000 + Benefits

I’m partnering with a highly technical organisation that builds secure, mission‑critical data platforms, and they’re now looking to add a Junior Data Engineer to their Data & Ontology team.

This role is well suited to someone with 1–2 years’ experience who wants to step into a more complex data environment and start working with modern data pipelines, knowledge graphs and semantic technologies, while being supported by experienced engineers.

The Role:

This is more than a traditional ETL position. The successful candidate will be involved in designing and supporting data pipelines that feed intelligent, policy‑driven data platforms used across government and enterprise environments.

You’ll be exposed to:

• Scalable data ingestion and enrichment pipelines
• Entity resolution and data fusion challenges
• Real‑time and event‑driven data architectures
• Knowledge graphs and semantic data models

What My Client Is Looking For

Essential:

• 1–2 years’ experience in a data engineering or closely related role
• Strong fundamentals in Python and SQL
• Experience working with data pipelines and structured data
• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub
• A curious, problem‑solving mindset and willingness to learn

Nice to Have (Not Essential):

• Exposure to RDF, SPARQL, ontologies or semantic technologies
• Experience with graph databases or knowledge graphs
• Familiarity with streaming or event‑driven architectures (e.g. Kafka)
• Interest in using ML/AI techniques for data ingest or enrichment

Candidates without prior semantic technology experience are still encouraged to apply — attitude and learning ability are key for this hire.

Security Clearance
