You will join the Office Transformation, Risk & Compliance, and more specifically the Risk & Internal Control squad.
This team is responsible for:
- Designing and maintaining internal control frameworks (1st and 2nd line of defence).
- Supporting risk management and operational risk reviews across the company.
- Ensuring that our fast-growing business and innovative insurance products are delivered in a controlled, compliant and secure way.
🎯 Your Mission
As an Internal Control Intern for 6 months, you will contribute to strengthening Wakam's risk management and internal control environment in a dynamic, high-growth Insurtech context.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Internal Control Framework
- Formalise and update Level 1 and Level 2 controls (design, documentation, testing approach).
- Support partner-related controls, helping to ensure that our distributors and other key partners meet Wakam's standards and obligations.
- Review and update existing control documentation, ensuring consistency, clarity and proper alignment with processes and risks.
- Contribute to internal awareness initiatives for 1st line managers and teams (training materials, presentations, guidance) to help them better understand their role in internal control.
- Participate in the review of operational risks, contributing to the identification, assessment, and follow-up of key risk areas.
- Help identify opportunities to optimise and streamline internal control activities, including:
- Simplification and standardisation of controls
- Better use of data and automation
- Contribute to exploring and implementing new tools, including the use of AI, to improve monitoring, documentation, and analysis of controls and risks.
- You are currently pursuing a Master's degree (Bac+4/5), ideally from a Business School, university program in audit, risk management, finance, or a related field.
- You have basic knowledge of risk management and internal control concepts (3 lines of defence, control frameworks, operational risk, etc.).
- You demonstrate strong analytical skills and critical thinking, and are comfortable structuring information and asking the right questions.
- You have good interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to interact with various teams and stakeholders.
- You are comfortable working in French and English in a professional context (written and spoken).

- Are rigorous, organised and reliable, especially when dealing with documentation and controls.
- Have a pragmatic mindset, able to balance theory (frameworks, methodology) with operational reality.

- Appreciate teamwork and like contributing to a constructive, positive and collaborative environment.
Within the Office Transformation, Risk & Compliance, digitalisation and innovation are key. In this internship, you will:
- Work with digital tools and collaborative platforms to document and track controls and risks.
- Participate in optimisation initiatives, including exploring how AI or automation can support internal control (e.g. document analysis, anomaly detection, data-driven monitoring).
- Be encouraged to look for efficient, tool-based ways to improve risk oversight, documentation quality, and interaction with operational teams.
