About The Role
The Principal Machine Learning: Generative AI role at Autodesk offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of advanced AI solutions within the AEC industry. Reporting to the Machine Learning Manager within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction Solutions Team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of AI-driven design and construction processes. This position involves architecting scalable data pipelines, working with large multimodal datasets, and developing production-level machine learning models that are reliable and efficient. You will set the technical direction for innovative projects, collaborate cross-functionally with teams of engineers and stakeholders, and mentor junior team members. The role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a passion for solving complex problems with AI technologies. Located on the East Coast of the United States, Autodesk supports a hybrid or fully remote work environment, providing flexibility to balance professional and personal commitments.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
- 7-10+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or a related domain with proven leadership capabilities
- Expertise in deep learning architectures such as Transformers, CNNs, and GANs
- Proficiency with modern ML frameworks including PyTorch, Lightning, and Ray
- Experience with large language models (LLMs), embedding models, vector databases, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems in production
- Strong understanding of data modeling, system architecture, and processing techniques
- Experience working with AWS cloud services and SageMaker Studio for scalable data processing and model development
- Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, distributed computing, and algorithm efficiency
- Proven ability to translate theoretical concepts into practical, scalable solutions
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to document processes, present findings, and influence stakeholders
- Architect and lead the implementation of scalable data pipelines and system architectures for AI applications
- Work with diverse multimodal datasets, developing advanced preprocessing, augmentation, and content understanding techniques
- Design, develop, and optimize production-grade machine learning solutions emphasizing scalability and reliability
- Establish best practices for model experimentation, evaluation, and continuous optimization
- Write high-quality, efficient code for ML pipelines, ensuring maintainability and performance
- Conduct thorough requirements analysis and collaborate with cross-functional teams to document solutions
- Identify key technical challenges and define innovative solutions to address them
- Communicate complex technical insights through presentations, reports, and visualizations to stakeholders
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning
