Job Description

Loji • Remote (U.S.) • One Year Contract With Potential for Permanent Position (1099) • $80K-$135K/year

At Loji, we build enterprise-scale web applications, AI-driven automation systems, integration platforms, and simulation technologies that power complex, modern organizations. We also develop our own internal product suite—tools that push the boundaries of how businesses operate.

We're looking for Renaissance Developers—not just code writers, but engineers who can architect systems, communicate impact, own outcomes, and adapt relentlessly.

The framework you love today will be obsolete in 2026. AI can write code faster and cheaper than any human. What AI cannot do is think like an architect, communicate like a leader, or own a system end-to-end.

We're looking for exceptional, self-taught engineers with raw talent and a relentless desire to learn. You don't need a degree. You don't need a pedigree. What you do need is curiosity, discipline, grit, and the ability to teach yourself anything.

Loji is a place where people with potential can grow rapidly—professionally, technically, and personally. We care about capability, not credentials.

Who This Role Is For

This role is designed for people who:

  • Are early in their career but already demonstrate standout ability
  • Have taught themselves programming, system design, or related technologies
  • Learn fast, think critically, and don't need hand-holding
  • Can understand complex systems and break them down into solvable problems
  • Embrace that your favorite framework will be obsolete in 18 months—and you're excited about that, not afraid of it
  • Have a natural tendency to ask "why" and "what if" rather than just "how"
  • Want mentorship, career investment, and exposure to enterprise-scale engineering
  • Are hungry to improve—and willing to put in the work
  • Want to build real products used by real customers

If you're the kind of person who builds things because you can't help it, we want to meet you.

What You'll Do

You'll work on a mix of client projects and Loji internal products involving:

  • Enterprise-scale web applications
  • AI systems, agents, and automation pipelines
  • Data modeling, APIs, integration layers, and simulation engines
  • Frontend and backend feature development
  • Real-world, production-grade system architecture
  • Design for leverage points—not just optimizing individual functions, but understanding how components interact across the entire system
  • Think beyond the code: scalability, observability, failure modes, and operational excellence
  • Debugging, optimization, and building with reliability in mind

You won't just write code—you'll learn how to think like a systems engineer.

Juniors think about functions. Seniors think about systems. You'll be trained to stop optimizing the line of code and start optimizing the leverage point.

As you grow, you'll take on more ownership, bigger projects, and deeper architectural responsibilities.

What We're Looking For

You don't need formal training. You do need the following:

Technical Foundation
  • Demonstrated skill in modern programming languages (TypeScript, Python, C#, etc.)
  • Ability to build and ship functional features
  • Curiosity about how systems work under the hood
  • Strong problem-solving ability
Developer Qualities We are looking for

1. Aggressive Curiosity

  • Willingness to unlearn your favorite tools every 18 months
  • If you're not actively learning something new right now, you're already legacy

2. Systems Thinking

  • Ability to see beyond individual functions to understand system-level behavior
  • Interest in failure modes, cascading effects, and operational excellence
  • Focus on optimizing leverage, not just individual lines of code

3. Communication as a Protocol

  • Ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Clear documentation and communication skills—because the best code means nothing if you can't articulate why it matters
  • Understanding that clear writing is the most underrated programming language

4. Extreme Ownership

  • "You build it, you run it" mindset
  • Willingness to be accountable for what you create—including waking up at 3 AM if your system breaks (we'll train you on how to prevent this)
  • You're not a tourist passing through; you're an owner who cares deeply about outcomes

5. The Polymath

  • Breadth over narrow specialization—we value engineers who combine technical skills with understanding of business, design, or user psychology
  • Ability to think across disciplines: How does this technical decision affect user behavior? Business outcomes? Team productivity?
  • Deep specialization is risky in a shifting landscape; generalists win
What You Need to Prove Yourself
  • A portfolio, GitHub, personal project, or anything that demonstrates you can build
  • Willingness to work hard, iterate fast, and accept feedback
  • Interest in enterprise engineering, AI, automation, or simulation systems
Bonus Points
  • C#
  • React or similar frontend frameworks
  • API design
  • Databases (SQL or NoSQL)
  • Basic AI/LLM tools or workflows
  • Event-driven architecture

But again—aptitude matters more than experience.

Compensation & Details
  • Contract (1099)
  • $80K-$135K/year depending on skills and capability
  • Fully remote
  • Flexible work environment
  • Significant mentorship and professional development
  • Opportunity to grow into senior roles, internal product ownership, or leadership as you develop
Why Loji

We are committed to investing in the people we believe in. At Loji, you'll get:

  • Direct mentorship from senior engineers who understand the Renaissance Developer framework
  • Exposure to enterprise architecture, AI systems, and high-scale development
  • Full ownership of features from conception to production—you build it, you run it
  • On-call responsibility for systems you create (we'll train you on operational excellence)
  • Direct accountability for uptime and user experience
  • A culture that values self-taught builders and unconventional talent
  • Real responsibility early—not just ticket-takers, but system owners
  • A chance to grow rapidly in capability and compensation
  • A team that cares deeply about your long-term success

If you're a self-taught engineer with drive, humility, and raw skill—you'll thrive here.

The developers who hide behind tickets will disappear. The developers who step up to own the system will become invaluable.

Equal Opportunity

Loji welcomes applicants from all backgrounds and walks of life. We care about talent, not credentials. If you're not sure you're qualified—but you're excited and willing to learn—apply anyway.
