About The Role
Join Five9 as a Senior Software Engineer within the Outbound Campaigns team, where you will play a pivotal role in building the next-generation enterprise campaigns management features. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the modernization of Five9's platform by breaking down monolithic architectures and developing cutting-edge microservices in a multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environment. As part of this team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, resilient microservices that meet complex business needs. The role requires a highly skilled engineer with a passion for building high-performance systems, a test-driven development mindset, and strong problem-solving capabilities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Quality, Operations, and other development groups, to drive technical initiatives forward. This position also involves providing technical guidance, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality code that adheres to best practices. The role is fully remote for candidates outside the San Ramon area or hybrid for those nearby, requiring physical presence in the office three days a week.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in designing and developing distributed, scalable systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Extensive experience in breaking down monoliths into microservices with a focus on resiliency
- Proven track record of designing and implementing complex systems at scale
- Expertise in Java programming language, including Spring and Spring Boot frameworks
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and CI/CD tools such as GitLab
- Good knowledge of ElasticSearch and database design, including both SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with public cloud infrastructures, preferably Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strategic thinking capabilities
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Understanding of mission-critical software operations in production environments
Responsibilities
- Participate actively in the Outbound Campaigns team to develop enterprise campaign management features in multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of microservices solutions
- Architect scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems to meet evolving business requirements
- Collaborate with architects to review and refine technical approaches
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code reviews to team members
- Identify technical debt and implement strategies for continuous improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to enhance system architecture
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Quality, Operations, and other engineering groups to drive initiatives forward
- Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability and performance
