Senior Software Engineer - HIPAA-Compliant Messaging App

Ping is a HIPAA-compliant messaging app for the healthcare industry – the “WhatsApp for healthcare.” This company/app has a huge, completely unmet TAM, and has the potential for a $50B valuation if we execute correctly.

Role Overview

• The Founder is a physician-entrepreneur with a history of business success in the healthcare industry
• The COO is also experienced in healthcare business operations and development
• What we need to complete the triumvirate is a smart, skilled, experienced, ambitious software engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Must be able to create what will essentially be a WhatsApp clone, with a short list of HIPAA security requirements bolted on (we know what these are and already have them incorporated into our current MVP)
• v1 will only need the basic functionality – i.e. messaging, groups, attachments (PDFs, JPEGs), sharing so others can download, register, and start using
• For PC as a web app, iPhone, and Android (again, just like WhatsApp)
• It must be functional and fast, without errors or bugs, and with strong UI/UX
• HIPAA requirements:
• ID verification to register
• Encryption in transit and at rest
• Audit trail
• Business Associates Agreement (easy)
• Ephemeral messaging
• Usability testing can be done with us and some admin people we work with
• This would ideally be created in under 6 weeks

Then…

• We launch in Beta with 10-100 users… do more usability testing and fine-tuning… and get product validation/Product-Market Fit
• Then we get VC investment and blitzscale
• At this point, you’d transition to a Chief Product Officer role… still coding, but also recruiting more engineers, and overseeing them, as we add improvements and features

Qualifications

• Entrepreneurial mindset and drive, resilience, ability to overcome the inevitable obstacles we’ll face
• Endurance to code long, hard, and meticulously, to create a high quality, fast app
• Expertise and experience with software engineering for secure, real-time messaging applications
• Expertise in mobile development and backend systems
• Proven experience handling cloud infrastructure for high-scale apps supporting [eventually] millions of users
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and scaling tech teams
