ChatVET is an AI-powered clinical search and decision-support platform for veterinary professionals. We serve 120+ users across 10+ countries and are preparing for our next phase of growth, including mobile expansion and in-clinic deployments.
We’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer - AI/ML to help build core product features, strengthen our AI systems, and support the evolution of both web and mobile applications. This role is part-time, 100% remote unless local, and includes a 5-10% equity stake with full equity rights and profit-sharing participation after the raise. It’s a hands-on opportunity for someone who enjoys ownership, rapid iteration, and building in an early-stage environment.
Responsibilities
• Build and enhance ChatVET’s AI-driven core features for clinical search and decision-support.
• Turn Figma designs into polished, responsive interfaces tightly integrated with AI outputs.
• Develop backend services, APIs, vector search, and database layers that power AI workflows.
• Work with AI/ML endpoints, optimize inference, and support model iteration and evaluation.
• Support in-clinic hardware and edge-AI setups to ensure fast, reliable performance.
• Strengthen platform reliability, scalability, and security as usage grows.
• Collaborate closely with the founder in a fast-paced environment that requires a hardworking, execution-focused approach.
Qualifications
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)
• Experience with backend development in Python or Node.js
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (DigitalOcean preferred) and CI/CD pipelines
• Understanding of REST APIs, databases, and system architecture
• Ability to work independently and deliver clean, maintainable code
Bonus Skills
• Experience training or fine-tuning AI/ML models
• Work with edge hardware pipelines
• Background or interest in veterinary, medical, or animal-focused software
• U.S.-based (bonus for EST/CST)
• A genuine love for animals and interest in improving veterinary care
