Role Description:

We are seeking 2D Animators to join our volunteer/internship team for the independent animated short film Motion. This role covers multiple parts of our animation pipeline, including character animation, linework, and ink & paint (cleanup and color). Applicants may be assigned multiple tasks depending on interest, strengths and portfolio samples.

This position is a part time, unpaid volunteer/internship role on our independent project intended for great portfolio pieces, student education, and the opportunity to collaborate on a fully remote production. If you are enthusiastic about creating compelling stories, gaining professional experience, and building a larger artistic community, we would love to hear from you. As an Animator on our team, you will create expressive 2D character and effects animations, produce clean and consistent linework, and help finalize shots through cleanup and color application. You’ll ensure visual consistency across scenes, revise work based on director and supervisor notes, and collaborate with team members to support cohesive storytelling. This role also involves staying organized, tracking shot progress, communicating clearly within our remote pipeline, participating in feedback sessions, and maintaining an efficient workflow to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

• 2D Character Animation and Color Theory skills
• Experience with Procreate Dreams, Toon Boom Harmony, Krita, and Adobe is positive
• Ability to bring characters to life through animation
• Strong attention to detail and creativity
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment
• Passion for storytelling through animation
• Ability to receive and apply director and supervisor notes
