Ruby on Rails Engineer (Multiple Roles)

We’re hiring three Ruby on Rails developers to join one of the most technical, fast-paced engineering teams in Australia. These roles sit inside a deep-product, craftsmanship-first environment building pure web platforms, highly complex UI/UX, and workflows across biochemistry and genetics.

All roles are full-time, fully remote anywhere in Australia.

1. Principle Engineer Role (Supporting a Principle Architect)

You’ll work alongside a world-class Principal Engineer who designs brand-new, highly complex workflows. He doesn’t want to “manage” - he wants a technical partner.

Who You Are

• Opinionated, thoughtful, and hyper-detailed in your written communication

• Someone who reads long threads and responds with considered counter-essays

• Happy to follow a strong technical leader without ego

• Stable, consistent, deeply engaged

• Strong FE experience preferred (pixel-perfect), but full-stack Rails required

• Fast, sharp coder who can “punch code” without sacrificing quality

Work You'll Do

• Build pure Rails web platform features (no integrations)

• Help out more on the FE

• Create highly complex UI/UX flows

• Engage deeply in architecture and technical reasoning

• Follow a principal’s lead while thinking critically and communicating clearly

2. Senior Full-Stack Engineer - Reporting to a Tech Lead

This team, maintains our core MedTech product - one of the most complex Rails products in scientific software. They operate with a 24/7 on-call culture (midnight calls are rare).

The Tech lead is quiet, deeply considered, absorbs everything, and leads during incidents.

Who You Are

• Heavyweight problem-solver

• Loves complexity, wants the hardest problems

• Strong full-stack Rails with ability to trace FE → background jobs → infrastructure

• Calm under pressure, great in emergency calls

• Humble, analytical, curious

• A “chess player” engineer

• Familiar with Tailwind, Stimulus, Hotwire (or keen to learn fast)

Work You'll Do

• Triage and solve deep product issues

• Break down performance bottlenecks and find root causes

• Handle high-tempo releases and production stability

• Own intricate features most engineers avoid

3. Full-Stack Rails Developer - Reporting to the Head of Engineering

This role is rapid, high-quality feature delivery. Not MVP, not rough - fast, sharp execution.

• Full-stack Rails dev with strong delivery discipline
