IT Director - Finance/Crypto Start-Up

Location: Fully Remote

Compensation: Competitive, DOE (Depending on Experience)

Our client, a rapidly scaling finance/crypto start-up, is seeking an experienced and strategic IT Director to lead all aspects of the company’s IT infrastructure, operations, and security. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and can design, implement, and manage scalable systems with minimal oversight.

The IT Director will oversee the entire IT function—from team leadership and system administration to compliance and infrastructure strategy—ensuring the company’s technology environment remains secure, efficient, and aligned with business objectives. Experience with SOC audits, Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange, Intune, Teams), and WordPress management is highly valued.

• Lead and manage all IT operations, systems, and security initiatives across the organization.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive IT roadmap that supports company scaling and compliance goals.
• Oversee the administration of Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
• Manage user access controls, credentials, and activity logs to ensure system integrity and security compliance.
• Lead efforts related to SOC 2 audits — including documentation, evidence gathering, and policy implementation.
• Monitor and analyze user logs, security events, and system alerts to proactively identify risks and anomalies.
• Oversee hardware and software lifecycle management, procurement, and vendor relationships.
• Build and optimize IT processes, policies, and documentation to support growth and audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy, cybersecurity, and financial regulations relevant to the crypto sector.
• Partner with leadership to align IT initiatives with strategic business priorities.
• Provide direction and mentorship to IT staff, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
• Manage and maintain the company’s WordPress website infrastructure, including hosting, security, and updates.
• Lead disaster recovery planning, backup management, and continuity strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support secure integrations between internal and third-party systems.

• 7+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3+ years in a leadership or management capacity.
• Proven experience building and scaling IT operations in a high-growth or start-up environment.
• Strong background with Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint administration.
• Hands-on experience with SOC audits, IT compliance frameworks, and security controls.
• Proficient in user access management, system monitoring, and audit log analysis.
• Deep understanding of networking, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Familiarity with WordPress administration, plugins, and site security.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term vision and day-to-day execution.
• Self-starter who thrives in a remote, fast-paced environment.
