This role requires a builder mindset and the ability to translate sophisticated OR models into clean, efficient, production-ready systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, deploy, and maintain backend services that integrate algorithms developed by OR scientists.
  • Translate algorithmic specifications into high-quality, efficient, well-structured code.
  • Develop APIs, data pipelines, and microservices to support real-time decisioning and optimization workflows.
  • Collaborate with OR scientists, frontend engineers, and product teams to ensure seamless feature integration.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Ensure clean code practices, documentation, and automated testing.

Mandatory Requirements

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Strong proficiency in Python or C# (either language is acceptable).
  • Solid understanding of backend architecture, API development, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Competitive programming experience (Codeforces, LeetCode, ICPC, Hackerrank, etc.) is a strong plus and reflects the level of problem-solving skill we value.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to relocate to Dallas and join immediately.

Why Join Optym

  • Opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and advanced optimization.
  • High-impact role building systems used by major airlines and logistics companies.
  • Collaborative environment with OR scientists, engineers, and industry experts.
  • Strong growth opportunities and exposure to complex real-world problems.
