Job Description
We are hiring contract Solutions QA Engineers to help strengthen the production reliability of a modern data optimization platform used by large enterprise data teams. This is not traditional QA—your focus will be on uncovering real-world customer issues that slip past happy-path test coverage, especially those tied to complex third-party integration edge cases.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Support to identify and document issues that affect reliability and customer trust. You’ll explore, test, and analyze failure modes across APIs, CLIs, and orchestration workflows using tools across the modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Fivetran, Terraform, DBT, Azure Data Factory, AWS, GitHub Actions, etc.).
This is a manual-first role designed to map the problem space; automation will follow as patterns emerge.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform exploratory, production-focused QA across critical customer integration paths using tools such as DBT, Airflow, Terraform, ADF, and GitHub Actions
- Reproduce, investigate, and document integration issues reported by customers or Support
- Test APIs, CLI tools, and system behaviors across varied configurations
- Work with Product and Support to prioritize edge-case testing based on real-world impact
- Identify and communicate failure modes, system behavior, and blast radius under unexpected or invalid configurations
- File clear, actionable, and reproducible bug reports with proper engineering context
- Track test coverage across tools, connectors, and orchestration workflows
- Contribute to early runbooks and future automation strategies once recurring patterns are identified
- Act as an internal “integration hunter,” proactively uncovering issues before customers encounter them
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in software QA, support engineering, or technical testing
- Familiarity with modern data engineering platforms and orchestrators (Airflow, Terraform, DBT, Databricks, GitHub Actions, Azure Data Factory)
- Ability to manually configure environments and reproduce issues across multiple systems
- Experience with APIs, CLI tools, and system integration validation
- Strong written communication skills for defect documentation and test reporting
- Self-starter with the ability to explore unfamiliar systems and uncover failure paths
- Comfortable working independently within a fully remote team
- Able to test effectively in complex, non-standard customer environments
Nice to Have
- Experience in Support Engineering, SRE, or Solutions QA
- Familiarity with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, or enterprise data warehouse environments
- Scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash, Postman, etc.)
- Experience with data quality tools or validating ETL pipelines
- Background in high-scale enterprise B2B SaaS environments
