Senior Big-Data Engineer

Location: Muscat, Oman

Working Days: Sunday to Thursday

Summary

Administer and optimize enterprise big-data platforms with Cloudera, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Python, Hue, Cloud, API, and Rangers.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and operate Cloudera clusters; capacity planning, high availability, and backups.
• Manage and tune Spark jobs, Kafka brokers/topics, and Hive metastore/LLAP/ACID tables.
• Enable secure access and governance using Rangers (Apache Ranger) policies, audits, and tags.
• Provide platform tooling via Hue for users; automate admin tasks with Python and shell.
• Integrate platform services with external systems via API; connect on-prem and Cloud resources.
• Monitor health and performance; troubleshoot YARN/ResourceManager, HDFS, Zookeeper, and networking issues.

Required Skills

• 6+ years in big-data engineering/administration, with hands-on Cloudera distribution management.
• Expert knowledge of Spark, Kafka, Hive, Hue, Rangers, and Python automation.
• Experience integrating with API endpoints and managing hybrid/on-prem to Cloud connectivity.
• Strong security (Kerberos, TLS), resource tuning, and benchmarking across data-intensive workloads.
