Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer (Freelance)

We are looking for Senior DevOps / Cloud Engineers working on a freelance basis to collaborate on projects across different sectors, with a focus on automation, cloud, security, networking and FinOps.

You will be responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining secure, scalable and cost-efficient cloud platforms, working closely with development, security and business teams.

To succeed in this role you will need to combine:

• Solid technical experience in cloud, IaC, CI/CD and Kubernetes
• Strong judgement in infrastructure security and network design
• Proven experience applying FinOps practices to optimise and govern cloud costs
• Excellent communication skills, especially in English, to collaborate with international teams

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS / Azure / GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible or similar tools).
• Define, build and optimise CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, etc.).
• Manage containers and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes (deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, best practices).
• Design and secure cloud network architectures: VPC/VNet, public and private subnets, VPN, peering, load balancers, WAF and other perimeter security components.
• Apply DevSecOps practices: secrets management, hardening of systems and containers, integration of security scanners in pipelines, identity and access management (IAM).
• Configure and maintain monitoring, logging and observability solutions (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, etc.).

Apply FinOps principles on a day-to-day basis:

• Design cost-efficient architectures.
• Implement good practices for tagging, budgeting and cost alerts.
• Analyse consumption and propose optimisation actions (rightsizing, autoscaling, reservations, savings plans, etc.).
• Prepare simple, understandable reports for both technical and business teams.
• Participate in the design of scalable, resilient, secure and cost-optimised architectures, continuously proposing improvements.
• Contribute to defining standards, guidelines and best practices for the Platform / DevOps and FinOps areas.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in roles such as DevOps, Cloud Engineer, SRE or similar.
• Proven experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP) in production environments.
• Strong command of Infrastructure as Code, ideally with Terraform (experience with Ansible or other tools is a plus).
• Solid experience with Docker and Kubernetes (installation, configuration, deployment and operations).

Advanced networking knowledge:

• Design of VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, VPN, load balancing and network security.
• Experience with firewalls / appliances (Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco or similar) is highly valued.

Hands-on experience in cloud security:

• IAM, permission and role management.
• Hardening of systems and containers.
• Use of vulnerability scanning tools and their integration into CI/CD.

FinOps experience (mandatory):

• Continuous, hands-on work on cloud cost optimisation (not just “checking the dashboard”).
• Design and implementation of tagging policies and cost allocation by project/team.
• Regular use of native or third-party tools to analyse consumption and cost (e.g. AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management, GCP Billing, etc.).
• Proposal and follow-up of optimisation actions (rightsizing, shutting down resources, reservations, savings plans, storage optimisation, etc.).
• Good level of English (minimum strong B2), both spoken and written.
• Ability to work in a fully remote environment in an autonomous, organised and collaborative way.

Nice to have

• Experience in multi-cloud environments.
• Experience in SRE / observability (SLI/SLO, incident management, post-mortems).
• Official certifications in cloud, security or FinOps (AWS, Azure, GCP, Fortinet, FinOps Foundation, etc.).
