CTO - Fintech Provider

Firinne Solutions are engaged in a CTO search for a Fintech provider based in Malta.

Our client is a successful & estabilished company that are about to embark on global expansion and are hiring a CTO to drive advancement of their tech stack to achieve their ambitious goals.

We are searching for a visionary leader in the Fintech space, who has a proven track record in building and leading development teams.

The role is based in Malta and we are ideally searching the local market, but relocation can be considered for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive continuous improvement, adopting modern technologies and practices that improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

• Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of ~18 engineers, QA, and DevOps

• Ensure all technology systems and data handling processes meet regulatory and security standards

• Oversee the full development lifecycle of our digital banking and financial applications, including mobile apps and backend systems

• Partner with the CEO, COO, and business teams to align technology initiatives with commercial goals

• Actively contribute to architectural decisions, technical problem-solving, and code reviews when needed

• Oversee relationships with technology partners, vendors, and third-party platforms such as core banking systems

About You

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field

• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development and IT operations roles

• Strong technical background — ideally in modern full-stack or mobile development

• Hands-on understanding of native mobile app development (iOS and/or Android)

• Excellent knowledge of security, data protection, and system scalability

• Track record of delivering complex software projects from design through to deployment

• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to balance strategy and execution

• Demonstrable experience in platform migrations

Desirable:

• Experience with Temenos or other core banking systems

• Background in fintech, neobanking, or similar technology-driven financial sectors

• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

• Exposure to agile and DevOps methodologies
