About The Role

Riot Data Centers (a Riot Platforms company) is looking for a Vice President of Critical Operations to join our team in Denver, CO. The VP of Critical Operations will be responsible for leading and executing data center operations and strategy. They will ensure current and future business needs are met, and data center operations are managed effectively in all markets. This role will strategize, manage, and operate multiple data center facilities for Riot Data Centers. This role also serves as the liaison for all 24x7 operational activities across the managed nationwide data centers with executives and department heads to ensure appropriate communications with all interested and vested parties. Leads and directs the staff in these areas to optimize employee potential and maximize Riot Data Centers’ continued growth in existing and new markets.

This role will be based in Denver. Relocation assistance available.

What You'll Do

• Lead Strategy & Vision: Drive the strategic roadmap for critical facilities operations, commissioning, infrastructure service delivery, security, and safety.
• Manage Nationwide Operations: Oversee 24x7 data center environments, ensuring capacity, availability, and performance meet or exceed SLAs.
• Optimize Infrastructure: Ensure 100% availability of electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, generators, HVAC, fire suppression, etc.).
• Drive Efficiency: Translate business requirements into data center needs and refine systems to maximize PUE.
• Set Standards: Establish KPIs, SLAs, and benchmarks; communicate through operational reviews.
• Vendor & Team Leadership: Manage vendor relationships and lead a high-performing team through growth and change.
• Risk & Compliance: Evaluate and mitigate risks, ensure adherence to ITIL, ISO, and Uptime Institute standards.
• Sustainability & Innovation: Develop and execute Riot’s sustainability strategy for data center operations.
• Budget & Governance: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and program governance for mission-critical infrastructure.
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years in mission-critical infrastructure operations, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-site data center portfolios.
• Deep knowledge of data center design, operations, energy systems, and sustainability practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with ITIL, ISO, Uptime Institute frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
  
  

Compensation And Benefits

• Competitive Salary: Base salary range $200,000 - $240,000 (commensurate with experience) + sign-on equity grant + bonus.
