Position Overview
We are expanding our engineering team and seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer with a passion for problem-solving, physics, and numerical modelling. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your CFD expertise while working in the vibrant Manchester City Centre with experienced engineers on cutting-edge projects and tools.
As a CFD Engineer at Mansim, you will assist in performing simulations, analysing results, and contributing to the development of efficient and accurate models. You will work closely with senior engineers to deliver high-quality technical solutions to clients and support ongoing software development and validation efforts.
This role is ideal for someone who loves applying theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges and wants to grow in a dynamic, innovation-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and run CFD simulations using commercial and open-source software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+, Fidelity CFD).
- Post-process and analyse simulation data to extract meaningful engineering insights.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and client reviews.
- Support the validation and optimisation of CFD models.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and test new simulation methodologies.
- Assist in pre-sales and technical support activities when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
- Familiarity with CFD tools (e.g., OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, Fidelity CFD, or similar).
- Basic experience with meshing tools and post-processing (e.g., ParaView, Tecplot, CFD-Post).
- Some programming or scripting knowledge (Python, MATLAB, or C++) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
