Role Summary:
The Data Centre Infrastructure Project Manager will be responsible for leading, planning, and delivering complex infrastructure projects, including server migrations, data centre relocations, and infrastructure upgrades. The role involves coordinating technical teams, managing vendors, mitigating risks, and ensuring minimal downtime or disruption to business operations during transitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and deliver data centre and infrastructure projects on time, within scope, and budget.
- Relocation & Migration: Lead end-to-end data centre relocation and consolidation projects, including physical move planning, decommissioning, rack layout design, cabling, and reinstallation.
- Technical Coordination: Work closely with infrastructure, network, server, and storage teams to ensure seamless migration and integration of systems.
- Risk & Impact Management: Identify risks, dependencies, and impact assessments; develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management: Manage third-party vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure project deliverables meet quality and security standards.
- Change & Transition Management: Ensure change control procedures and documentation are followed; facilitate transition to BAU (business-as-usual) operations.
- Budget & Resource Management: Manage project budgets, procurement activities, and resource allocations effectively.
- Reporting: Provide regular project status updates, executive summaries, and post-implementation reviews.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: in IT infrastructure project management, with proven experience in data centre relocation or consolidation projects.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of data centre infrastructure (servers, storage, networking, cabling, power, cooling, and rack management).
- Project Tools: Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira, or equivalent.
- Methodologies: Experience with ITIL, PMP, or Prince2 frameworks preferred.
- Vendor Coordination: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple vendors and third-party service providers.
- Communication: Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Certifications (preferred): PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or Data Centre Management certifications (e.g., CDCP, CDCS).
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience managing infrastructure refresh, cloud migration, or hybrid environment projects.
- Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills under tight timelines.
- Ability to work across global teams and in mission-critical environments (24x7 operations).
