You will work on low-level software across RTOS internals, device drivers, BSPs, boot code and hardware bring-up for ARM and x86 platforms. The role includes working with virtualization/hypervisors, embedded security (secure boot, encryption), and safety-compliant designs for mission- or safety-critical systems. This opportunity is with a confidential end customer represented by Hunter Scouts and is based in Ottawa with a hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain device drivers, BSPs and boot code; perform hardware bring-up and board-level debugging on ARM and Intel/x86 platforms
- Work with OS internals including memory management, task scheduling, interrupts, synchronization and file systems
- Integrate and configure virtualization and hypervisors; collaborate with platform, product and DevOps teams
- Use Linux-based toolchains, Git/GitHub and scripting (Python/Bash/Perl) to automate builds, tests and tooling
- Implement embedded security measures (secure boot, encryption) and contribute to safety-compliant designs
- Diagnose and resolve system-level issues using structured debugging and analysis techniques

- Proven board-level debugging and hardware bring-up experience on ARM and/or Intel/x86 platforms and deep knowledge of OS internals (memory, scheduling, interrupts, synchronization, file systems)
- Experience with virtualization/hypervisors in embedded systems and Linux-based development toolchains; strong Git/GitHub and scripting skills (Python, Bash or Perl)
- Must have the legal right to work in Canada. Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident with 5+ years residency in Canada to support federal security clearance eligibility
- Experience with secure boot, hardware encryption and other embedded security technologies
- Familiarity with safety/mission-critical standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262)
- Experience with PowerPC in addition to ARM and Intel/x86
- Prior work in safety- or mission-critical embedded environments
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated build and test frameworks
