Senior React Native Developer (Native Module Expertise)

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a React Native Developer with deep expertise in both the cross-platform framework and the underlying native mobile environments. You will be instrumental in the end-to-end development, maintenance, and optimization of our core mobile applications, ensuring seamless functionality and native-like performance across iOS and Android. This role demands a strong focus on maintaining code health and enhancing existing native modules to push the boundaries of our products.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Cross-Platform Development & Architecture

• End-to-End Feature Development: Design, build, and deploy high-quality, reusable components and new features across both iOS and Android from a single codebase.
• Performance Optimization: Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring our applications remain fast, responsive, and scalable. Utilize techniques like reducing re-renders and minimizing state.
• Code Quality & Standards: Enforce high standards for code quality, organization, and adherence to React Native best practices, including participation in thorough code reviews.

Native Code Maintenance & Enhancement

• Native Module Integration: Directly maintain and enhance existing native modules written in languages like Swift/Kotlin/Java, and create new ones when functionality requires the highest performance or access to platform-specific APIs.
• Platform-Specific Debugging: Diagnose and resolve complex bugs and build issues that are specific to the iOS or Android platform, utilizing native debugging tools effectively.
• Build System Management: Work proficiently with native build tools, including Xcode for iOS and Gradle for Android, to manage dependencies, configurations, and deployment pipelines.
• Platform-Specific Adaptation: Implement platform-specific code and conditional rendering where necessary to ensure design and functionality consistency across platforms.

Collaboration & Integration

• API Integration: Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs, handling asynchronous calls and managing state effectively (e.g., using Redux or Context API).
• Collaboration: Work closely with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and Product Managers to define requirements and deliver polished, user-centric interfaces.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience (5+ years preferred) as a React Native Developer.
• Expert proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and the React Native framework.
• Strong understanding of the entire mobile app development lifecycle, including specific knowledge of how iOS and Android platforms function.
• Demonstrated experience in reading, debugging, or writing code for native modules (Swift/Kotlin/Java).
• Familiarity with native build tools (Xcode and Gradle) and version control systems (Git).
• Experience with state management solutions (e.g., Redux) and mobile app architecture patterns.
• Good attention to detail. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent problem-solving skills and a high standard for code quality through peer reviews and a high degree of automation. Good command of both verbal and written English.
• Previous experience in a company with a focus on gamification, iGaming, or free-to-play games is advantageous. Previous experience working within a startup/scale-up environment is advantageous.
• Experience in the gaming or high-traffic mobile application industry.
• Familiarity with Expo SDK and Over-The-Air (OTA) update mechanisms (e.g., CodePush).
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines for React Native apps.
