Role Overview

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will take on a technical leadership role, shaping the architecture and execution of a next-generation embedded software platform. Your work will focus on edge computing for high-speed machine learning, sensor fusion, and hardware automation—critical to enabling factories capable of processing massive streams of data and driving fully automated systems. This role demands both strategic vision and hands-on execution, from architectural design to implementation and debugging of the most challenging technical problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of a complex, high-performance embedded software ecosystem.
• Develop core features using C, C++, or Rust, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability.
• Drive interdisciplinary integration across electrical, mechanical, and process engineering domains.
• Take ownership of complex technical problems, from concept through implementation and validation.
• Guide system-level integration efforts and oversee end-to-end performance testing.
• Provide technical project leadership when project scope demands structured coordination.
• Innovate continuously, improving platform performance and pushing the limits of what embedded systems can achieve.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience architecting and implementing embedded software systems.
• Expertise in C, C++, or Rust, with a proven track record of delivering production-grade code.
• Experience in high-performance compute environments involving GPUs or FPGAs.
• Background in fast-paced, innovative technology environments where adaptability and ownership are key.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with hardware acceleration for AI/ML and real-time edge computing systems.
• Knowledge of high-speed data acquisition and closed-loop control systems.
• Familiarity with robotics, industrial automation, or similar hardware-software integration domains.
• Creative problem-solving approach with the ability to apply first-principles reasoning.
  
  

Location

This role is based in Hawthorne, CA, at a 35,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility designed for R&D, collaboration, and large-scale production. The site is at the center of Los Angeles’ growing tech ecosystem.

• Compensation: $200,000–$400,000+, depending on experience and expertise, plus significant stock option grants.
