Bank.Green is a nonprofit initiative driving climate accountability in finance. Our mission is to help people and institutions shift money away from fossil fuel funding and toward a sustainable future. We do this through public tools and data transparency, most recently with Watchtower, a platform tracking whether banks are keeping their climate commitments.
The Role
We’re looking for a freelance UX Designer based in the Netherlands to help evolve Watchtower’s dashboard, building on our existing design and prototype. You’ll focus on refining user journeys, enhancing clarity in data presentation, and supporting our goal of making complex climate finance information easy to explore and act on. Working closely with our front-end developers, technical lead, and NGO partners, you’ll translate analytical outputs into intuitive, well-structured user experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Build on Watchtower’s current dashboard design and prototype to improve usability, coherence, and impact.
- Translate user needs and partner feedback into updated wireframes, interaction flows, and high-fidelity designs.
- Collaborate with developers and data analysts to ensure a smooth hand-off and implementation.
- Conduct lightweight testing with NGO partners to validate design improvements.
- Maintain and extend the existing design system for scalability and accessibility.
What We’re Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in UX design for data-rich or analytical products.
- Strong skills in Figma (or similar) and an ability to build upon existing design frameworks.
- Understanding of responsive web design and accessibility best practices.
- Clear communicator, comfortable working asynchronously with a small, distributed team.
- Self-driven and detail-oriented, with strong organisational habits.
- Interest in climate action, sustainability, or open data projects.
Contract and Compensation
- Start date: Immediate
- Duration: Ongoing freelance engagement
- Commitment: Up to 10 hours per week
- Rate: €50–60/hour depending on experience
- Location: Based in the Netherlands (must be eligible to work as a freelancer in the Netherlands)
