About The Role

We’re looking for an experienced VMware/ESXi Engineer to join our consulting team on a part-time, remote engagement supporting a hybrid cloud infrastructure modernization project. You will assist in optimizing and maintaining their on-prem VxRail-based VMware environment, while aligning it with Azure VMware Solution (AVS) as part of a broader cloud integration strategy.

This is a 4-week, part-time contract (approx. 100 hours total) delivered remotely in partnership with Infinite Ranges.

What You Will Be Doing

• Collaborate with client stakeholders to assess and document the current VMware environment, identifying misconfigurations, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
• Optimize and validate a vSphere 8 deployment on VxRail, including version alignment with AVS (vSphere 7).
• Lead composite patching and rolling reboot strategies across a 6-node VxRail cluster with minimal downtime.
• Support troubleshooting of vMotion issues and improve cluster concurrency and performance.
• Remediate critical VMware configuration gaps affecting DR readiness and system stability.
• Provide recommendations for AVS upgrade strategies in alignment with Microsoft best practices.
• Maintain updated technical documentation and transfer knowledge to internal client teams throughout the engagement.
  
  

What We Want To See

• Proven experience with VMware ESXi and vSphere 7/8 in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of Dell VxRail systems and integrated deployments.
• Experience performing patching, updates, and rolling reboots in clustered VMware environments.
• Deep understanding of DR planning, vMotion, and hybrid cloud alignment strategies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.
