Job Description
The Role:
- Deep Field Games is looking for an experienced programmer with solid Unreal Engine experience to join our growing New Zealand-based team full-time.
- You’ll be taking on a core gameplay programmer role supporting existing and future titles, in a fully remote team.
- Working under the Design Director, you will help drive development, build out features, refine existing systems and contribute to system design.
- You will need to be comfortable managing your own output, excellent at meeting deadlines and operating in a team, as well as taking and responding to feedback.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implementing new game features
- Occasionally aiding designers with some development tooling, including (but not limited to) UE5 Editor Utility Widgets
- Writing maintainable code in Blueprints and C++
- Improvement and completion of existing systems
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proven strength and experience in Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and C++
- Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine (4 / 5)
- Multiplayer development experience
- Ability to meet deadlines and work within established pipelines
- Strong work ethic and collaborative attitude
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Additional Experience:
- Experience with AI Behavior Trees in Unreal Engine
- Experience handling large amounts of data in a multiplayer environment
- Experience with multiplayer involving sub-levels and world partitioning
- Experience specifically with the latest versions of Unreal Engine 5
We offer:
- Flexible hours outside core work times
- Remote work within NZ for this role
- Competitive contract: up to $90-110K (NZD) (depending on experience)
