Job Description


The Role:

  • Deep Field Games is looking for an experienced programmer with solid Unreal Engine experience to join our growing New Zealand-based team full-time.
  • You’ll be taking on a core gameplay programmer role supporting existing and future titles, in a fully remote team.
  • Working under the Design Director, you will help drive development, build out features, refine existing systems and contribute to system design.
  • You will need to be comfortable managing your own output, excellent at meeting deadlines and operating in a team, as well as taking and responding to feedback.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Implementing new game features
  • Occasionally aiding designers with some development tooling, including (but not limited to) UE5 Editor Utility Widgets
  • Writing maintainable code in Blueprints and C++
  • Improvement and completion of existing systems


Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proven strength and experience in Unreal Engine, Blueprints, and C++
  • Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine (4 / 5)
  • Multiplayer development experience
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within established pipelines
  • Strong work ethic and collaborative attitude
  • Excellent communication skills



Preferred Additional Experience:

  • Experience with AI Behavior Trees in Unreal Engine
  • Experience handling large amounts of data in a multiplayer environment
  • Experience with multiplayer involving sub-levels and world partitioning
  • Experience specifically with the latest versions of Unreal Engine 5

  • Competitive contract: up to $90-110K (NZD) (depending on experience)
