Data/BI Quality Assurance Analyst

Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Data/BI Quality Assurance analyst to join our data team and ensure the accuracy and reliability of business intelligence reports and dashboards. This role will be deeply embedded in the development lifecycle, from project initiation to post-deployment, and requires a sharp eye for data integrity, strong SQL skills, and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate Power BI reports developed by data engineers and BI developers.
• Review the project requirements and data context to design meaningful test cases.
• Perform line-by-line data checks, apply filters, and verify report behavior and accuracy.
• Document findings, discrepancies, and test results in a clear and structured format.
• Collaborate closely with developers to build and refine test plans.
• Re-execute test cases with every report update or data change.
• Provide actionable feedback to improve report functionality and user experience.
  
  

Requirements

• Proficiency with SQL; ability to query and validate data sets.
• Experience working on QA for data teams (not application QA).
• Solid understanding of Power BI and data visualization principles.
• Ability to work with complex data models and large datasets.
• Comfortable working in the weeds; this is a hands-on role, not a leadership position.
• Experience with automation testing in BI environments.
• Familiarity with data QA in manufacturing or industrial domains.
• Exposure to test case management tools and Agile workflows.
• Experience working directly with BI and data engineering teams.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive in catching data issues.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and communicate clearly with technical teams.
