Senior Enterprise Backup Engineer

The L2 Backup Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, availability, and recoverability of enterprise data across hybrid environments. This position requires hands-on experience with backup technologies, cloud-native services, virtualization platforms, and scripting for automation.

⚙️Requirements:

• Over 5 years of experience managing enterprise backup infrastructure
• Proven ability to lead and collaborate with remote and distributed teams
• Proficient in English (minimum B2 level)

Backup & Recovery Solutions

• Proficient in administering enterprise backup platforms such as Commvault and Druva
• Skilled in configuring and managing AWS native cloud backup services across hybrid environments
• Experienced in using Commvault dashboards, reporting tools, and Apex AIops for monitoring and analytics

Operating Systems & File Systems

• Solid understanding of Microsoft Server and RHEL Linux operating systems, including their security principles

Storage Technologies

• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud storage, NAS, SAN, tape libraries, and Nutanix
• Knowledge of storage security principles and their impact on backup performance and data integrity

Virtualization Platforms

• Competent in managing backup operations for virtual environments including AWS EC2, VMware, and Nutanix
• Understanding of virtualization security principles and their role in data protection strategies

Automation & Scripting

• Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash
• Experience with automation tools and frameworks including GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, and AWS Lambda

Responsibilities:

Backup Operations & Administration

• Manage and support backup solutions using Commvault and Druva
• Configure and monitor AWS native backup services for cloud workloads
• Perform backup and restore operations across hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud)

System & Platform Support

• Administer Microsoft Server and RHEL Linux systems with a focus on backup and security best practices
• Support and troubleshoot storage platforms including AWS cloud storage, NAS, SAN, tape libraries, and Nutanix

Virtualization & Cloud Integration

• Manage backup operations for virtualized environments on AWS EC2, VMware, and Nutanix
• Ensure compliance with security principles across all virtualization platforms

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Bash, GitLab CI/CD, Ansible, and AWS Lambda
• Streamline backup tasks and reporting through scripting and orchestration tools

File Systems & Data Integrity

• Work with file systems such as NTFS and ext4, including Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)
• Apply security principles to safeguard data at rest and in transit

Network Awareness

• Understand the TCP/IP stack and network device topology to troubleshoot backup-related network issues
• Apply network security principles to ensure secure data transfers and system communications
