About This Role
As the QA Engineer on a 3-month contract with strong possibility of extension, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the platform delivers a flawless experience across four user types and multiple product lines. With a December launch approaching, you'll help the team ship high-quality features, identify edge cases, and establish testing processes that scale. This is an opportunity to build quality standards from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans across multiple product lines
- Create and maintain automated test suites for frontend and backend functionality
- Perform manual testing for new features, user flows, and edge cases
- Test progressive profiling systems and conversion funnel workflows
- Validate tiered membership systems, role-based permissions, and verification status workflows
- Conduct cross-browser and mobile responsive testing across devices
- Test authentication flows including social login integrations (Google, Facebook, GitHub)
- Verify payment processing, subscription management, and billing accuracy
- Test AI-powered features including event recommendations and matching algorithms
- Identify, document, and track bugs using systematic reporting processes
- Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and validate fixes
- Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains stable
- Conduct performance testing and identify bottlenecks
- Test SEO implementations, metadata, and web performance metrics
- Support pre-launch QA sprint and post-launch monitoring
Required Qualifications
- 2-4+ years of experience in QA engineering or software testing
- Experience testing modern web applications built with React or similar frameworks
- Strong understanding of testing methodologies (functional, integration, regression, UAT)
- Experience with both manual and automated testing approaches
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or similar)
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and backend testing
- Experience testing authentication systems and user permission models
- Knowledge of SQL and database testing fundamentals
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for bug reporting
- Ability to work independently and manage testing timelines
- Experience with bug tracking tools (Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues, etc.)
- Reliable internet connection and conducive home office setup
- Availability to commit to a 3-month contract with flexible extension opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing SaaS platforms or multi-tenant applications
- Familiarity with Supabase, Firebase, or similar backend platforms
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing integration
- Experience with performance testing tools (Lighthouse, WebPageTest, etc.)
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and testing
- Experience testing payment integrations (Stripe, Paystack, Flutterwave, etc.)
- Background in event management or hospitality industries
- Experience working in agile/startup environments
- Knowledge of GDPR/CCPA compliance testing
Technical Environment
- Frontend: React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
- Backend: Supabase (PostgreSQL, Edge Functions)
- Testing Focus: Cross-browser testing, mobile responsive, authentication flows, payment processing, AI features, multi-user workflows
