Structural Project Engineer / Structural Engineer – Multifamily Construction


Join a dynamic team at one of the nation’s top multifamily developers! As a Structural Project Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing, drawing and overseeing the construction of high-quality concrete and steel structures, including multifamily residences, luxury single family homes and high-rise buildings. You’ll work primarily on new builds but also apartment renovations. Your expertise will drive project success from pre-construction planning through execution, ensuring seamless coordination and superior outcomes. Our client is a general contractor that integrates mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) services in-house while also partnering with subcontractors to ensure project success from start to finish. This position is involved in pre-construction, estimating, material sourcing and procurement. This position will assist in the management of submittal processes, coordinating the timely delivery of materials, maintaining logs, schedules, budgets, and overall to facilitate a well-managed project, while maintaining project safety initiatives and the coordination of timely required materials delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Pre-construction design and drawings to ensure structural integrity for concrete, steel and wood structures / buildings
  • Write and administer subcontract and purchase agreement exhibits.
  • Draft cost change requests and prepare cost forecasts.
  • Lead meetings, job walks, and quality control (Q.C.) coordination.
  • Monitor and report work progress in the field.
  • Participate in all aspects of the procurement and vendor management process.
  • Assist in managing the project permit process.
  • Lead the document control process, maintaining and distributing electronic and paper plans, specifications, drawings, permits, and logs.
  • Manage processing and tracking of submittals, RFIs, Change Order Requests (CORs), pricing change orders, and subcontracts.
  • Conduct field inspections and ensure safety compliance.
  • Support Superintendents and Field Engineers in schedule management.

About You

  • Be able to do the job as described.
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees are a plus (i.e. Masters of Structural Engineering (MS), MEng, MSCE with a focus in structural engineering, etc.)
  • Licenses or certifications are a plus (i.e. professional engineer (PE), structural engineer (SE), CSE, CEng, ACI, AISC, etc.)
  • Proven experience in designing and drawing multifamily construction projects, including concrete, steel and wood buildings.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimating, and project schedules for constructability and conflict reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of local multifamily construction industry standards and subcontractors.
  • Understanding of building permit approval and inspection processes.
  • Proficiency in construction-related software (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoDesk, ProEst, Takeoff, BIM360, Blue Beam, Procore, etc.).
  • Working Knowledge of OSHA regulations for the construction industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
