Cargo Operations Manager
Based in Budapest
The Cargo Operations Manager reports to the Head of Ground Operations / Nominated Person Ground Operations. Cargo GOM is responsible for all aspects of the safe, cost-effective, and punctual running of the cargo operations. In their absence, the appointed RGOM/GOM will deputize unless another specific nomination is made.

Responsibilities:
The Cargo Operations Manager is responsible to the Head of Ground Operations / Nominated Person Ground Operations and shall:
- Coordinate ground operations services for ad hoc/scheduled and commercial/non-commercial cargo transportation requests,
- Coordinate with
- with the FODM, to ensure up-to-date electronic and hardcopy documentation is onboard the aircraft;
- with the Head of Planning and Head of OCC, to manage the planning and execution of freighter flights and be aware of rostering changes;
- with the NP FLT, to be aware of availability of trained flight crewmembers in their area of responsibility remains at optimum levels according to variation in demand and company policy.
- Manage EIC/COMAT transportation,
- Manage and supervise Dangerous Goods related processes relevant to Ground Operations,
- Supervise cargo warehouse and ground handling activities before and during turnaround,
- Be responsive to feedbacks and questions connected to freighter operations,
- Line-management of assigned internal and external stakeholders,
- Complete risk assessments and pre-ops assessments of new destinations,
- Relay technical requests to SMEs and nominated persons, when required,
- Deploy a wide variety of training methods, organize, facilitate and conduct training sessions and workshops,
- Manage and oversee applicable contracts,
- Sign invoices of contracts,
- Collection of occurred costs related to government freighter ops and provide quarterly summary to accounting,
- Establish weekly and monthly reports on cargo operations performance.
- Manage and participate in cross-functional projects, developments and processes related to cargo matters but not restricted to those - from planning to the successful realization of the project,
- Support Wizz Air Stationery activities starting from tendering, purchasing till distribution tracking and maintaining stock, making sure no disruptions suffered due to lack of stationery
- Liaison with Airport Development and Purchasing departments to secure lowest cost contracts and working on long term cost cutting strategies.
- Liaison with Finance, Network Development & Scheduling and other relevant departments. Manage cost in line with budget and identify new opportunities for operational improvement and/or cost savings related to cargo operations;
- Liaison with the Senior Manager Safety, Senior Manager Security and Senior Manager Compliance on safety, security and compliance matters affecting ground operations related to cargo operations;
- Liaison with the Senior Flight Policies and Standards Manager to adjust internal standards and procedures, when needed and propose changes to company standards and procedures.
- Liaise cross-functionally with Wizz Air departments to ensure overall operations remains compliant with all labor and EASA policies.
- Representing Wizz Air in relevant industry bodies as required;
- Ensuring the safety, security and compliance of ground operation activities including all contracted activities at the nominated stations;
- Oversight of the start-up of new operational locations (new stations and bases); capacity increase of operational bases, alternate and diversion arrangements;
- Ensuring safe, compliant and secure day-to day operations including operational efficiency, on-time performance, disruption management, customer care, oversight of relevant programmes and system developments;
- Co-ordination and management of the nominated ground handling suppliers and airport companies to deliver targeted performance outcomes in all areas of safety, cost control and operational performance;
- Communication and follow up in case of flight disruptions and follow up on service recovery procedures, based on EU261 and/or other local regulations;
- Monitoring operational messages and delay codes, follow up with non-complying stations;
- Maintaining continuous oversight of deviations from company standards at nominated stations, ensuring the on-time execution of safety and compliance corrective and improvement actions;
- Undertaking station visits and relevant audits/inspections and trainings as follow up on outstanding items as Air Safety reports, mystery passenger report, audit findings within the confines of Ground Operations processes;
- Participating in cross-functional projects and new product development from planning to introduction stage;
Skills and competencies:
- Shall have an understanding of the airline ground operations concept;
- 2 years of relevant work experience;
- People management experience;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Solid decision-making;
- Work well under pressure.
Requirements:
- Fluent English (written and spoken);
- Bachelor Degree or equivalent;
- Computer proficiency.
