What You'll Be Doing

We’re seeking a Security Engineer to lead security, compliance, and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities for mission-critical federal health platforms. In this role, you’ll ensure that systems are secure, accredited, and aligned with VA and federal standards—balancing compliance with modern engineering practices to deliver reliable, secure services for millions of users.

What You’ll Bring

• Proven experience in security engineering and compliance within federal health or mission-critical cloud systems.
• Hands-on expertise with ATO processes, risk management frameworks (RMF), and security control implementation.
• Knowledge of NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and VA/DoD security guidelines.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS GovCloud) and related security services.
• Experience integrating security scanning tools (static/dynamic analysis, dependency scanning, IaC security) into CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with monitoring and vulnerability tools (Splunk, Tenable, Qualys, or similar).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders on security and compliance.
• A proactive mindset toward security automation, compliance-as-code, and continuous monitoring.
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Compensation

At Wilcore, it’s important each employee is compensated competitively and fairly. In alignment with state legal requirements. A range for the included position is listed below. Be advised, actual offer details are determined by job category, job location, and candidate skill level.

United States Wage Range: $100,000 – $145,000
