As we grow our platform and partnerships, we’re looking for our first dedicated CloudOps Engineer to strengthen our infrastructure, security posture, and cloud operations, helping us build a robust, scalable, and SOC 2–compliant environment.

Role Overview

The CloudOps Engineer will own and evolve Ovation’s AWS-based infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across all environments. You’ll work closely with our engineering and product teams to automate deployment pipelines, manage cloud infrastructure through Terraform, and implement best practices in monitoring, observability, and incident response.

This is a hands-on role for a technically strong engineer who is adept at moving projects from startup mode to enterprise-grade reliability and scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS infrastructure (EC2, ECS, RDS, CloudFront, S3, IAM, Route 53, etc.).

• Manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform to ensure consistent, automated deployments.

• Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub to enable efficient, stable releases.

• Establish and/or improve monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to maintain service reliability and system health.

• Develop proactive incident response and disaster recovery strategies to ensure continuous uptime and rapid recovery.

• Enforce strong cloud security and data privacy practices including IAM policies, encryption, and network hardening.

• Support SOC 2 compliance and audit readiness through adherence to security and operational standards.

• Analyze AWS usage, implement cost optimization measures, and identify opportunities for improved performance and ROI.

• Collaborate closely with developers and stakeholders to ensure smooth deployment processes and infrastructure scalability.

• Act as a bridge between engineering and leadership, communicating CloudOps strategies and operational insights clearly.

• Document technical processes, workflows, and infrastructure to support transparency and team efficiency.

• Stay current with emerging CloudOps tools, AWS innovations, and automation best practices, integrating improvements into Ovation’s environment.

• Participate in post-incident reviews and propose system enhancements to prevent recurrence and improve reliability.

Qualifications

Required:

• 5+ years of experience in CloudOps, CloudOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, particularly AWS.
• Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure automation.
• Hands-on experience with GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tools.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking and security fundamentals.
• Experience implementing monitoring and alerting frameworks.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills within distributed teams.

It’s a plus if you have:

• Experience with Azure or GCP
• Worked within SOC 2–compliant or security-first organizations.
• Developed and/or deployed mobile applications (iOS and/or Android). 
• Familiarity with technologies like Docker.
