Firsty is building the future of digital connectivity. In their first year they raised over five million euros. The company is not even two years old and is already moving at high speed. The founders previously worked at Adyen and are now building the Adyen of telecom. 

They work in a complex technical environment. Writing code is not enough. You need to understand how your work fits into the broader system, communicate clearly with engineers and align with existing architecture. Technical depth is important, but so are quick thinking, structured reasoning and genuine interest in the product. 

This role is for someone who works well in a team, communicates with focus and clarity, and does not need to be told what the product is about because they already took the time to look into it. 

You will work closely with the CTO and the founding engineering team. Firsty offers a SARS plan (Stock Appreciation Rights) which allows you to benefit from company value growth without buying shares or paying tax at the time of grant. 

What you will do 

• Build and maintain backend services in Node.js using TypeScript and Express 
• Work on scalable serverless architecture on AWS 
• Replace Firebase with a custom backend stack 
• Build secure and reliable APIs 
• Set up observability: logging, monitoring and alerts 
• Work closely with mobile and product teams 
• Build with awareness of product and user impact 

Tech stack : Node.js, TypeScript, AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3), PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Docker, Firebase, Adyen, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Sentry 

What they are looking for 

• At least five years of backend development experience 
• Strong hands on knowledge of Node.js and AWS 
• Clear and fast communication with engineers and stakeholders 
• Ability to translate product needs into backend architecture 
• Experience contributing to existing systems and codebases 
• Curiosity about the product and how people use it 
• Full time availability on site in Amsterdam
