Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Developer to join a team supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate, Navigation and Controls Branch (AFRL/RWWN) in its efforts to pioneer Networked Collaborative Autonomy (NCA), precision-guided air-to-air and air-to-ground munitions. This role is located at Eglin AFB, FL. This position requires a highly motivated individual educated in Autonomous Flight Vehicles, Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy Architecture Development. The successful candidate shall assist in analyzing, modifying, and developing multi-agent swarm behaviors to enable synergistic collaborative weapon engagements. Software and hardware development to support virtual and live flight experimentation is anticipated, and familiarity with software design, development, and implementation on embedded systems is expected. Experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning is beneficial. The successful candidate shall assist with developing new technology investment ideas, defining the scope of work and the funding required to advance new technologies, developing tasking, and monitoring program progress. The successful candidate shall assist in defining and developing technical, hardware and software, and test requirements, and preparing specifications, statements of objectives, and statements of work. The successful candidate shall review system requirements, drawings, specifications, and test plans, procedures and schedules. The successful candidate shall assist with data reduction and analysis of test results. The successful candidate shall assist with planning, coordinating, and executing modeling and simulation activities. Duties include identifying and soliciting academia, federal laboratories, industry, international, and other external providers of technologies relevant to the respective science and technology planning goals and technical challenges. Job Requirements Applicant must be a US citizen and possess or be able to rapidly obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance. A Bachelor of Science plus 5 years of experience, or a Master of Science, in electrical or computer engineering or computer science is required. Relevant experience involving software design and development and embedded system integration is also required, and relevant experience in machine learning is desired. Applicants should have programming experience in C, C++, and Python. Applicants should be creative, interested in proposing new capabilities and technological approaches, and motivated to develop new areas of expertise. Applicants should have the capability to think deeply and deliberately on methods to harness new or existing technologies to mitigate the effects of capability gaps for these systems. Experience planning, executing, and reporting on science and technology research programs is highly preferred. Experience using Microsoft Office applications to understand, document, report, and present complex technical issues is highly preferred.
