How You’ll Contribute…

Boyd Jones is seeking a Site Manager to serve as a central, site-based technical resource during all phases of construction. This position is project-based and will require relocation or extended stays at project locations throughout the region. This role is responsible for coordinating closely with the design engineering team and serving as the key liaison during design, permitting, construction, and project closeout. The Site Manager will provide both technical and administrative support to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities…

Field & Site Management

• Lead daily field operations, ensuring construction activities meet schedule, safety, quality, and cost objectives.
• Manage subcontractors and self-perform crews across civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical scopes.
• Facilitate daily coordination and Plan-of-the-Day meetings to align site priorities with foremen, engineers, and subcontractors.
• Oversee site logistics, including laydown areas, deliveries, equipment movement, access roads, and workforce facilities.
• Develop and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules, coordinate subcontractor manpower and material needs.
• Optimize construction sequencing to minimize idle time and prevent scope conflicts, coordinate with project controls for recovery planning if necessary.
• Track daily progress and complete percent; identify and escalate productivity delays or bottlenecks.
  
  

Quality, Safety & Compliance

• Support QA/QC personnel with inspections, hold points, commissioning, and timely punch list resolution.
• Monitor field safety and quality; coordinate inspections with AHJs and client representatives.
• Ensure all work complies with contract documents, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  
  

Engineering & Technical Support

• Communicate constructability issues to engineering and manage design clarifications or RFI responses.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure smooth transitions from design through permitting, construction, and closeout.
• Support commissioning and system startup; ensure systems are built and tested per design requirements.
• Track engineering changes, permit status, and installed quantities; maintain accurate redlines and as-built drawings.
• Capture and relay field-driven lessons learned to support design and process improvement.
  
  

Cost & Schedule Awareness

• Support cost control by minimizing rework, rental overages, and material waste.
• Assist in reviewing and negotiating change orders.
• Provide input to project budgets and schedule updates in collaboration with project controls.
• Maintain document control systems including redlines, installation job books, and turnover documentation.
  
  

Stakeholder & Internal Coordination

• Represent the company in owner/engineer/utility field walks, audits, and progress reviews.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for field-related questions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams on construction strategy and execution.
  
  

What You’ll Bring…

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in solar and/or commercial construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or Construction Engineering.
• Solid understanding of electrical, structural, and civil construction processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio).
• Experience using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
• Familiarity with working alongside utilities and AHJs.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Willingness to relocate to project sites for the duration of each assignment.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification; strong knowledge of construction safety protocols.
• Proficiency in CAD software.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Salesforce, and Box.
  
  

Working Conditions:

The role primarily operates in an on-site project environment, which may include exposure to varying

weather conditions, noise, and physical activity. Office-based tasks involve the use of standard office

equipment in adequately lit and ventilated conditions.
