Authentication Engineer II (Remote - Texas Required)

We're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Authentication Engineer II to join our team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This is a fully remote position, and candidates must be local to Texas.

In this role, you will be a subject-matter expert, playing a critical part in securing our enterprise by managing and optimizing our Single Sign-On (SSO) and authentication infrastructure. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Microsoft authentication and a passion for automation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Subject Matter Expert (SME): Act as the SME for application onboarding and integration into the organization’s SSO environment using Microsoft SSO and Ontra.
• System Management: Manage and optimize authentication systems across Active Directory (AD) and Azure AD, including configuration, complex troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Certificate Lifecycle: Oversee and automate certificate lifecycle management, including monitoring and timely renewal to maintain security compliance.
• Azure Infrastructure: Support and maintain the Azure landing zone, ensuring a stable and secure foundation for deploying cloud workloads.
• Automation & Streamlining: Streamline and automate SSO-related processes, which include ServiceNow form submissions, certificate and password management, and HTTP encryption.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with application owners, team leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and clear communication throughout projects.
• Remediation: Contribute to the cleanup and remediation of existing application integrations (approximately 300 applications) to improve overall efficiency and compliance.
• Troubleshooting: Provide expert SSO troubleshooting, including advanced SAML configuration, token and authentication issue resolution, and scripting.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing SSO integrations and authentication systems in an enterprise environment.
• Expertise with Microsoft SSO, Azure AD, and core authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
• Strong scripting skills using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph APIs for automation.
• Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure and managing Azure landing zones.
• Proficiency in certificate management, advanced authentication troubleshooting, and automation of identity processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to liaise effectively across technical and business teams.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex integrations and drive significant process improvements.
• Required: Must be local to and reside in Texas.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with ServiceNow integration for SSO onboarding workflows.
• Familiarity with legacy systems and migration processes to Microsoft SSO and Ontra environments.
• Knowledge of Windows Server OS management and data center operations (excluding networking).
• Experience supporting enterprise environments using Microsoft 365 E5.
