The Information Services Division are technology leaders, planning and delivering successful solutions with information management and information technology (IM/IT) services to both the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The division also provides IM/IT resource planning, decision-making, project and issues management, security and privacy functions, and desktop support.

The Senior Scrum Master leads a team of Scrum Masters/Project Managers and is responsible for leading technology project planning, design, implementation and close out, and for the management of the agile sprint process for scrum teams. An effective supervisor, you serve as a positive role model for your team, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment and ensuring timely service delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Master's degree in a computer science related field and two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science related field and three (3) years of related experience; OR
  • Diploma in a computer science related field and four (4) years related experience; OR
  • Certificate or coursework in a computer science related field and five (5) years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Related Experience Includes The Following

  • Agile project experience.
  • Experience with Agile lifecycle management practices and tools.

Preference May Be Given To Candidates With The Following

  • Certification as a Scrum Master.
  • Experience working in a social sector context.
  • Experience in legacy IM/IT modernization initiatives.
  • Experience with change management in adoption of agile practice or coaching development of agile teams.

About This Position

There is currently a temporary opportunity available until October 31, 2025.

The temporary opportunity may be extended OR a permanent appointment may result from the temporary appointment.

Temporary postings are not limited to the geographic area. Board and lodging and relocation expenses do not apply.

This position can be based in any Social Development & Poverty Reduction office locations listed above. Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to five (5) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.

Depending on the successful candidate's location, a bi-weekly isolation allowance may apply.
