About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on IoT / Embedded Systems Engineer with a strong background in audio processing and embedded Linux development. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams—hardware, cloud, and mobile—to design, build, and optimize firmware and embedded software for next-generation IoT devices.
This is a remote position for candidates who thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are passionate about bringing intelligent, secure, and reliable embedded systems to life.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with tech teams to resolve technical support issues, implement enhancements, and improve system performance.
- Test, debug, and validate embedded products and services as part of ongoing product support.
- Participate in product discussions with hardware, server-side, and mobile developers to ensure seamless integration.
- Design, develop, and test efficient, high-quality embedded code using modern frameworks and defensive programming techniques.
- Ensure robust and secure communication with sensors and medical devices via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, and other wireless protocols.
- Implement defensive programming techniques for reliability, especially for use cases involving elderly users.
- Harden firmware for maximum protection against tampering and unauthorized access.
- Collaborate on future hardware and firmware iterations.
- Develop, integrate, and test new product features, APIs, and data services (e.g., MiiCube platform).
- Apply user feedback to continuously improve product features and performance.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience in embedded systems or IoT product development.
- Proficiency in Embedded Linux (e.g., Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, or similar hardware platforms).
- Strong programming skills in Rust, Python, or C/C++ within an embedded software context.
- Experience with Audio Signal Processing and related DSP techniques.
- Familiarity with embedded AI optimizations using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or ONNX.
- Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Zigbee, and network interfacing.
- Hands-on experience with serial communication and network-level debugging.
- Solid understanding of Linux kernel functions and low-level device interactions.
- Experience working with REST APIs, WebSockets, and streaming endpoints.
- Knowledge of secure firmware and device data protection best practices.
- Comfort with sensor data parsing and transport protocols.
- Strong debugging, benchmarking, and optimization skills.
- Proficiency with Git or other version control systems.
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional, distributed team.
Preferred Skills
- Experience developing for medical or health-tech IoT devices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure IoT ecosystem (IoT Hub, Edge, etc.).
- Familiarity with Defensive Programming patterns and techniques.
- Basic understanding of hardware electronics to aid firmware debugging and optimization.
