Position Introduction/Key Duties

Cimarron is seeking mid-level and senior-level Architects to support the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase of the Sentinel (formerly GBSD) program. Cimarron provides engineering and technical support to Bechtel for the design, construction, and integration of the Sentinel launch systems at locations to include Vandenberg AFB, CA, F.E. Warren AFB, WY, Malmstrom AFB, MT, and Minot AFB, ND. Sentinel is a vital US Air Force program that will recapitalize the nation's aging ground-based leg of the nuclear triad - the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This is an on-site position that offers a 9X80 work schedule (i.e., every other Friday off), paid overtime, and an outstanding work/life balance. For candidates not local to the Ogden area, a relocation allowance can be provided.

Key Duties

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct detailed phases of architectural work, including the development of original designs, layouts, drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare conceptual studies, designs, renderings, reports, and proposals to support project development.
  • Perform building code analyses and ensure architectural compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Design facility layouts and architectural details using 3D modeling software.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, forecasts, and change orders.
  • Prepare procurement and subcontract requisition documents and perform technical bid evaluations.
  • Coordinate architectural efforts with engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, construction teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze complex design issues and recommend solutions using sound judgment and knowledge of unconventional materials or techniques.
  • Support construction activities by resolving field change requests and nonconformance reports.
  • Assist in constructability reviews to ensure design feasibility during construction.
  • Prepare work and material specifications, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and designers.
  • Lead or participate in technical discussions with clients, suppliers, and project partners.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients through professional correspondence and meetings.
  • Collaborate across project functions to address regulatory issues and ensure adherence to industry codes and standards.


Required/Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

Required Skills, Experience, and Education :

  • Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance in a reasonable timeframe.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire. If you are unsure whether your ID is Real ID-compliant, please check for the star symbol in the upper portion of your driver's license or state ID.
  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
  • 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Prior experience in facility design, layout, architectural detailing, and building code analysis.
  • Proficiency in Revit modeling and creating architectural renderings.
  • Experience with CADD applications, such as Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, material requisitions, and construction methods.
  • Understanding of interdisciplinary work processes across engineering and project teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information.
  • Ability to effectively resolve design issues in collaboration with team members, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and clients.
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent).


Desired Skills, Experience, And Education

  • Registered Architect.
  • Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.
  • Experience with procurement automation tools.
  • Thorough knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.
  • Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
  • Master's degree in Architecture.
