Director, Cloud Operations

The Director of Cloud Operations is responsible for developing and executing Advantive’s global hosting strategy, driving operational excellence across all client-facing cloud environments. This senior leader will oversee system performance, security, compliance, and vendor relationships while building and scaling a high-performing, geographically distributed team. The role emphasizes efficiency, resilience, and customer impact, ensuring reliable, secure, and cost-effective delivery of Advantive’s SaaS products.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Cloud Governance

• Drive alignment between cloud operations and business goals.
• Establish and execute quarterly priorities and monthly commitments to deliver measurable business outcomes
• Develop and maintain governance frameworks to ensure compliance, risk management, and strategic oversight across all cloud environments
  
  

Cloud Strategy & Operations

• Oversee cloud operations for Advantive’s external-facing SaaS products, hosted across multiple cloud and infrastructure technologies (AWS, Azure, and specialized platforms)
• Lead cloud operations ensuring secure, resilient, and highly available services.
• Continuously enhance observability, monitoring, disaster recovery, and business continuity practices.
• Build, standardize, and continuously improve repeatable processes to ensure operational scalability, reliability, and compliance.
• Improve and standardize existing processes to increase stability and operational efficiency.
  
  

Performance & Service Delivery

• Ensure uptime and SLA adherence for all production systems as defined under customer contracts.
• Monitor and report on system availability, proactively addressing issues to maintain or exceed contracted SLAs
• Champion robust incident management and escalation protocols to support business continuity and customer commitments.
  
  

Financial Management & Cost Optimization

• Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives, including budgeting, forecasting, and spend analysis across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce operational expenses while maintaining service quality.
• Partner with Finance and Product to ensure transparency and accountability in cloud spend.
• Negotiate with vendors to achieve favorable terms and maximize ROI.
• Regularly report on cost-saving measures and financial performance to executive leadership
• Align financial strategies with operational goals to support scalable, resilient cloud services
  
  

Security & Compliance

• Strengthen compliance and governance frameworks across multi-cloud environments.
• Proactively identify risks and implement security best practices to safeguard customer-facing applications.
  
  

Leadership & People Development

• Manage and develop a global team plus offshore vendor teams.
• Coach and mentor engineers, fostering technical growth and a culture of accountability.
• Lead vendor partnerships, negotiating contracts and ensuring performance through SLAs and KPIs.
• Optimize organizational structure and team operations for scalability.
  
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Delivery & IT leaders to support cloud hosting across all product lines.
• Act as a forward-thinking leader who drives strategic improvements, delegating effectively while ensuring accountability.
• Collaborate on integration of cloud operations during product or organizational transitions, as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field.
• Certifications: AWS and/or Azure cloud certifications required.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of cloud operations leadership experience.
• Proven track record managing multi-cloud (AWS + Azure) environments.
• Experience with SaaS operations for customer-facing products.
• Vendor management experience across global and offshore teams.
• Strong technical foundation with the ability to balance strategy, execution, and people development.
• Proven ability to build, scale, and optimize geographically distributed teams
