Verification and Validation (V&V) Manager

An opportunity has opened for an experienced Verification & Validation (V&V) Manager to lead a growing team within a rapidly scaling defence-technology organisation developing advanced sensing and embedded systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary R&D environment and is passionate about building capable teams, improving processes, and delivering high-performing hardware products.

You will oversee all verification and validation activities across complex hardware-centric systems, ensuring design intent is fully realised and system performance is thoroughly verified under real-world conditions. Working closely with systems, electronics, software, and test engineers, you will drive the continuous improvement of V&V processes and establish a culture of technical excellence and accountability.

This is a full-time role based in Sydney. Full relocation is required for interstate candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee verification planning, test execution, and reporting to ensure clear traceability between product requirements and results.
• Build and mentor a capable V&V engineering team through effective hiring, coaching, and technical leadership.
• Manage laboratory operations, including the development, maintenance, and acquisition of test equipment to support ongoing projects.
• Develop scalable workflows and introduce automation tools to improve test efficiency, repeatability, and overall throughput.
• Establish performance metrics to track quality, coverage, and productivity across the V&V function.
• Lead early-stage validation initiatives to identify design sensitivities and guide engineering improvements.
• Apply data-driven and statistical analysis techniques to inform design decisions and accelerate development cycles.
• Communicate progress, findings, and verification status updates to senior management and program stakeholders.

About You:

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Systems Engineering (or related discipline).
• Demonstrated experience in hardware-focused verification and validation, including functional, environmental, and integration testing.
• Proven track record in managing or leading technical teams in a product development or R&D setting.
• Solid understanding of systems engineering practices, requirements traceability, and test documentation.
• Hands-on experience with automated test systems, instrumentation, and data acquisition tools.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction and process improvement.
