This role extends beyond implementation—it includes leading cross-functional initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, driving best practices, and influencing architectural decisions.

Collaborating closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and DevOps teams, the Senior Cloud Engineer ensures infrastructure is optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, security, and resilience. This position plays a key role in advancing automation maturity, enhancing CI/CD pipelines, and evolving infrastructure toward a modern cloud-native model.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reusable infrastructure components using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to drive automation efforts.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Serve as a technical advisor in cross-functional meetings, guiding infrastructure decisions, trade-offs, and implementation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements by embedding best practices into infrastructure design and automation.
  • Contribute to the development of standards and frameworks, codifying infrastructure patterns that promote consistency and reusability.
  • Architect and lead the implementation of cloud infrastructure solutions with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, and security.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for complex infrastructure issues spanning multiple systems or platforms.
  • Evaluate and implement tools for monitoring, cost optimization, observability, and platform governance.
  • Champion DevOps practices across the team, fostering continuous improvement, feedback loops, and infrastructure lifecycle visibility.
  • Manage cloud platforms by performing OS-level patching, enforcing security policies, and maintaining high availability through proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving infrastructure, networking, and application layers across multiple cloud platforms.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Automation & CI/CD: Proficient in building CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), including integration of quality gates, testing, and rollback strategies.
  • Collaboration: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills; able to effectively communicate infrastructure concerns to engineering and business stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead by influence, mentor others, and drive infrastructure maturity.
  • Cloud Expertise: Deep knowledge of Azure (VMs, Storage, Networking, AKS, Functions), with hands-on experience in AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Expert-level experience with Bicep, Terraform, or equivalent tools; familiarity with cloud-native templates and automation.
  • Containers & Orchestration: Strong understanding of Kubernetes, container lifecycles, Helm, and service meshes (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Security & Compliance: Knowledge of cloud security posture management (CSPM), identity and access management (IAM), and encryption practices.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Broad understanding of IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings, particularly in Azure; experience with AWS and GCP is a plus. Proficient in Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Automation & DevOps: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Bicep, Azure DevOps, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash), configuration management tools (e.g., Puppet), and backup solutions (e.g., CommVault, Zerto).
