Job Description
The Senior Director role reports to the AVP of Application Shared Services and serves as a transformational leader responsible for integrating and harmonizing imaging services across Intermountain (IH) and its partnerships. This leader is responsible for leading technical and application service line managers and teams within the Digital Technology Services (DTS) team, delivering cardiology and radiology workflows and imaging systems services to IH operating units and caregivers. This role is also responsible for supporting standardization, optimization, and innovation; while also respecting business model differences, contributing to their evolution; in addition to also ensures safety, performance, stability, usability, and security of the organization’s applications.
This is an Enterprise-wide, with a responsibility of developing key relationships with IH operations and Shared Services leaders, who represent the internal customers. The Sr. Director is accountable for designing and developing roadmaps, overseeing the configuration, integration, testing, implementation, and technical support of Enterprise Imaging Systems related to various medical fields, including Cardiology, Radiology, Gastroenterology, Pathology, and Dermatology; which includes managing both vended solutions (e.g., Epic, Eon, Volpara) and IH-developed applications. The position also works closely with IH Cardiovascular and Imaging leaders and strategic partners (e.g., Epic, DXC, Visage, Siemens, Lumedx) to optimize, innovate, maintain service levels, and provide knowledge transfer to technical staff on these applications.
The role is hybrid and will require travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business. We will consider candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana and are within a reasonable commuting distance to an Intermountain Health care site. Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.
Essential Functions
- Provides strategic direction for enterprise imaging systems, including Epic integration, PACS, Tellica, decision support, and workflow tools, ensuring alignment with business goals, strategies, and the evolving value-based care landscape.
- Partners with operational and medical leadership to develop and execute imaging strategies, architecture, and supporting technologies as well as Community Connect and affiliate integration strategies and tactics.
- Leads artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and automation initiatives as assigned including AI-enabled diagnostic tools, automated workflow optimization, and predictive analytics to improve patient experience and outcomes, caregiver experience, and operational efficiency partnering with DTS Teams and operations.
- Serve as a consultant and escalation point for DTS, clinical operations, and business teams, resolving complex issues and ensuring stakeholder needs are met.
- Maintains expertise in imaging standards (e.g., DICOM, IHE), infrastructure trends, and system architecture to support informed decision-making.
- Ensures compliance with security policies and advises leadership on strategic changes impacting imaging workflows and business operations.
- Leads cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, managing resources and communicating risks and progress effectively.
- Oversees vendor relationships and software/hardware selection for cardiology and radiology imaging, ensuring alignment with approved initiatives.
- Drives data quality improvements in collaboration with cardiovascular and imaging stakeholders to support analytics and reporting goals.
- Manages daily operations, performance, and staffing of imaging systems, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and service metrics.
- Fosters a high-performing team culture through coaching, succession planning, and regular communication, while optimizing resource allocation.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in clinical or allied health, business, computer science, information management or 8 years of experience in healthcare IT leadership.
- Proven ability to lead large, geographically distributed teams
- Experience managing complex technological transformations
- Strong vendor relationship management and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication skills with clinical, technical, and executive stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to collaborate with clinical staff, technicians and executives
- Familiarity with quality control and performance metrics to ensure safe and accurate imaging services
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in clinical or allied health, business, computer science, information management.
- 10+ years progressive leadership experience in healthcare IT
- Knowledge with healthcare mergers, acquisitions, and/or divestitures.
- Experience with multi-state healthcare operations and leading geographically distributed Teams.
- Experience with imaging center operations and workflow optimization
- Experience with Epic systems, particularly Epic Radiant and Cupid
- Background in radiology or clinical imaging operations
- Knowledge of DICOM, HL7, PACS/VNA/RIS, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and data governance
- Knowledge of imaging AI/ML applications

- This is an exempt, full-time position. Pay offers are determined by prior years of relevant experience within the established pay range. In addition to the annual salary, to show our commitment to you and assist with your transition,, we may offer a sign-on and relocation bonus when applicable. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
