Job Description
🚀 Who We Are
Restflow.io is a growing platform designed by AI professionals, for security-aware MCP builders. Rooted in a vision of empowering the next generation of AI-integrated enterprise systems, we bring together a community of engineers, architects, and operators who want more clarity, compliance, and control as agents and models become embedded in critical systems.
We’re building the foundational layer for governing, monitoring, and securing open source agents and tools through protocols like MCP (Model Context Protocol)—and shaping how security and observability scale in a multi-agent world.
🔍 What Are We Looking For
We’re looking for a thoughtful and experienced MCP Engineer to join our early technical team. You’ll help us design, build, and deploy the first open source security and monitoring layer for MCP-based systems—focusing on authorization, observability, and policy enforcement.
You’ll work closely with the founder to ship the MVP of our “secure MCP gateway” (sMCP), implement proof-of-concepts with early users, and define the guardrails that let agents safely operate in enterprise environments.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to define best practices in an emerging protocol ecosystem, and contribute to open standards that will influence how AI connects to the real world.
âś… What Experience We Want
- 3+ years in backend, platform or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Exposure to the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or equivalent agent orchestration standards (e.g., LangChain Tools, Function Calling, semantic agents).
- Hands-on experience building or deploying APIs and gateway systems in secure or distributed environments.
- Familiarity with authZ/authN, RBAC/ABAC systems, and at least one policy engine (e.g. OPA, Cerbos, Zanzibar).
- Previous exposure to security, compliance, or observability tooling (e.g. OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Comfortable writing structured JSON-based protocols, schemas or integration layers.
- Experience deploying to Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-native infrastructure (we use lightweight containers, Helm, and optionally Istio or Cilium).
- Experience contributing to or building open source projects is a strong plus.
🎯 Requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication (English required).
- Ability to think clearly about security boundaries, trust models, and permission scopes.
- Proactive mindset—someone who designs defensively and builds with auditability in mind.
- Thrives in async work environments and small engineering teams.
- Bonus: familiarity with MCP tooling (e.g. AgentGateway, Arch), or contributions to community standards.
🌟 Perks
- Competitive salary within your region
- Early contributor to a high-leverage open source project in a fast-growing area
- Work with security researchers and AI infra experts on frontier tech
- Flexible hours, async-friendly work style, and remote-first culture
- Option to speak at conferences or contribute to open specifications
- GitHub sponsorship or community recognition if desired
