PLM Systems Engineer
The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State is an integral part of one of the leading research universities in the nation and serves as a University center of excellence in defense science, systems, and technologies with a focus in naval missions and related areas. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Systems Engineer to join us at our State College, PA, location. You will play a pivotal role, focusing on translating business requirements into technical solutions and collaborating with our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Tools team for successful integration, testing, roll out, and training activities. The working environment for this role is available as fully on-site, but options for a hybrid schedule exist for the right person and dependent upon research requirements. You will analyze/translate business process requirements into technical solutions; design, administer, configure, and maintain Siemens Teamcenter PLM environments; plan, design, and implement custom workflows, user roles, and access permissions; and assist with the integration of Teamcenter and MCAD/ECAD tools and other enterprise applications.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Sciences, or Mechanical Engineering preferred) with a minimum of three years of relevant experience for the advanced level; at least six years of relevant experience for the senior level or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and SELinux system administration
- Programming skills in multiple languages
- VMWare and virtual machine management
- Oracle databases and application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat)
- Siemens Teamcenter or other similar PLM in a production environment
- Demonstrated ability to work through difficult problems, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution
- Past success collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture
- Past success conveying technical details, including detailed processes
Added bonus for us includes:
- PLM systems implementation, particularly Siemens Teamcenter
- Enterprise software integration and support (COTS tools)
- Microsoft Office Product Suite – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Project, Visio
- Prior supervisory and/or leadership experience
- Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required
