Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer (Azure / VMware)

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cloud & Systems Engineer (Azure / VMware) to strengthen our Infrastructure team.

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and evolving our hybrid IT environment, combining on-premise VMware systems and Microsoft Azure cloud services.

This position requires a hands-on, technically strong engineer who ensures the stability, security, and scalability of our infrastructure while contributing to ongoing modernization and automation projects across our global sites.

NB: Relocation to the Ticino region (or nearby area) is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Systems Management

• Deploy, monitor, and maintain on-prem and cloud infrastructure (VMware, Azure).
• Ensure reliability, performance, and security across IT systems.
• Implement best practices for administration, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Automate recurring tasks to improve operational efficiency.

Cloud Operations (Azure)

• Manage Azure resources: subscriptions, storage, virtual networks, and compute.
• Maintain hybrid connectivity (VPN, ExpressRoute) and Azure AD integration.
• Oversee identity, access, and policy management in alignment with security standards.

Security Operations (SecOps)

• Work with IT Security to harden systems and respond to incidents.
• Ensure compliance with security frameworks (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001).

Collaboration & Documentation

• Partner with cross-functional teams to align IT solutions with business needs.
• Maintain clear documentation of systems, architectures, and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud management.
• Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure (mandatory) and VMware vSphere/vCenter.
• Solid understanding of servers, networking, Active Directory, storage, backup, and HA/DR.
• Exposure to security best practices (NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) is a plus
• Fluent in English (mandatory) – Italian is an advantage.
• Relevant certifications are a plus:

-Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

-VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV)
