We are seeking a skilled and proactive Security Engineer to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cybersecurity, experience with security operations, and the ability to support business functions such as responding to RFPs and audit requests.


Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.


Rate: $65 - $78 / hr. w2


Responsibilities:

Security Operations & Monitoring

  • Analyze security events and logs to determine criticality and escalate appropriately.
  • Collaborate with the Managed Detection and Response (MDR) provider to ensure timely and accurate threat detection and response.
  • Maintain and optimize SIEM tools and other logging infrastructure.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Respond to internal and external audit requests, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
  • Support compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA) by providing evidence and remediation plans.

Sales & Business Enablement

  • Assist in answering security-related sections of Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Provide technical security input to support sales and customer assurance processes.

Security Architecture & Engineering

  • Design and implement security controls across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and support remediation efforts.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with IT, DevOps, Legal, and Product teams to ensure security is embedded in all aspects of the business.
  • Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity or security engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, log analysis, and incident response.
  • Familiarity with MDR services and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, SOC 2).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in responding to RFPs and audit documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or GIAC.
  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Prior experience supporting sales or customer-facing security inquiries.

Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
