Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Lead Automation Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong focus on testing Frontend and Mobile applications built with React and React Native. This role blends hands-on automation development with leadership - mentoring QA engineers, refining CI/CD quality gates, and ensuring compliance with secure online payment workflows.

You will take ownership of and elevate the quality assurance processes for our web and mobile user interfaces. You will be instrumental in establishing and driving our QA and in particular our automation testing strategy for our frontend platforms while also leading manual testing efforts across all products and building out the QA function within the company. This role requires deep technical expertise in frontend testing frameworks, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for ensuring the delivery of high-quality user experiences.

What You’ll Do

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive QA strategy encompassing both automation and manual testing methodologies, with a strong emphasis on React and React Native applications.
• Designing, building, and maintaining robust and scalable automation frameworks specifically for our React web applications (e.g., using Cypress, Selenium with WebDriverIO, Jest with React Testing Library) and React Native mobile applications (e.g., using Detox, Appium).
• Leading and mentoring a team of QA engineers, providing guidance on both frontend and potentially backend automation and manual testing best practices.
• Collaborating closely with the development teams, as well as other stakeholders, to integrate testing seamlessly into the development lifecycle.
• Defining and tracking key quality metrics specific to frontend performance and user experience, providing regular reports on testing progress and overall application quality.
• Overseeing the creation and execution of manual test plans and test cases for areas not covered by automation.
• Managing and triaging frontend and potentially backend defects, working with the development team to ensure timely resolution.
• Contributing to the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline to ensure quality at every stage for both web and mobile deployments.

What We’re Looking For

• You have a strong background in quality assurance with significant experience in designing and implementing test automation frameworks specifically for React web applications and React Native mobile applications.
• You are able to set up an automation framework from scratch for frontend test automation tools with technologies such as Cypress, Selenium, Jest or Vite for web, Detox or Appium for mobile.
• You have experience testing web applications built with React and mobile applications built with React Native.
• You can design and implement scalable and maintainable test automation solutions for both web and mobile platforms.
• You have a solid understanding of the entire software development lifecycle and the role of QA within it.
• You have a strong understanding of different testing methodologies(e.g., component testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing, visual regression testing).
• You have an eye for identifying potential user experience and functional issues on web and mobile platforms and advocating for preventative measures.
• You are analytical with a keen eye for detail and a strong opinion on best practices in frontend QA and test automation.
• You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can think creatively to overcome testing challenges on both web and mobile.
• You are curious about new testing technologies and driven to find ways to implement them effectively.
• You have experience leading and mentoring other QA engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• You can effectively oversee and drive testing efforts for web and mobile projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Experience with performance and accessibility testing is a plus.
• You are autonomous and comfortable taking initiative to improve testing processes and advocate for quality user experiences.
• You can quickly understand functional and technical requirements for both web and mobile applications and identify testing needs.

Nice to have

• Strong proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks relevant to React web applications (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Jest or Vite).
• Strong proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks relevant to React Native mobile applications (e.g., Detox, Appium).
• Familiarity with TypeScript.
• Experience with mobile testing best practices on iOS and Android.
• Understanding of UI/UX testing principles.
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and potentially relevant mobile testing services (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
