Pow-dr Technologies

By distributing and optimizing the use of smart (wifi-enabled) and inexpensive energy technologies, Pow-dr provides a consumer-facing, real-time energy demand response service. Households and businesses using these technologies will authorize automated switch-off events ("pow-downs") during times of high need, for instance to provide grid stabilization services or eliminate the need to engage highly polluting power plants. Our vision is to deploy these technologies at sufficient scale to enable the fast-track closure of the most polluting power plants while cost-effectively increasing renewable energy production in target geographies, and to prevent supply outages in developing countries that affect people's private lives and economic prospects. In short, we want to build a technological solution that empowers consumers and businesses to play a key role in an equitable and sustainable energy transition. Our mission is to provide a service that allows consumers to effortlessly sync their energy demand with clean, low-cost energy supply using the most cutting-edge technology and research. Our team of academics and software engineers bring and generate insights from behavioral economics, randomized controlled trials, and machine learning to optimize and personalize our users' experience while enabling a seamless transition to a carbon-neutral economy.
