We are seeking an experienced and dynamic
DevOps Manager to lead our small but skilled team of three DevOps Engineers while also managing the company’s support team and processes. As the DevOps Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the deployment, management, and cost optimization of our company's mission-critical and financially-sensitive applications, hosted on AWS. You will take Ownership and implementation of a strategic vision to achieve business objectives as agreed with the Head of Studio and, as appropriate, key stakeholders. This position requires a combination of hands-on expertise, strategic leadership, and a deep understanding of DevOps principles, support management, and service-level processes. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate experience in leveraging AI technologies to enhance operational efficiency and scalability.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management:
- Oversees all aspects of the team by facilitating and resolving issues, through effective problem solving and communication skills.
- Create and maintain a culture of support, enablement, ownership, and accountability.
- Oversee the company’s support team, managing their roster and ensuring effective coverage for all operational needs.
- Set priorities, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure timely delivery of objectives across both DevOps and support teams.
- Conduct performance appraisals of direct employees.
- Monitor performance of direct employees on an ongoing basis and takes effective steps to deal with non-performance.
- Provide hands-on support and guidance to the team when needed, especially in high-pressure situations.
Deployment & Operations Management:
- Own the end-to-end deployment lifecycle of the company’s products on AWS and legacy platforms, ensuring stability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure the deployment pipelines adhere to the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and security.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment issues rapidly to minimize downtime or impact.
Service-Level Processes (SLIs/SLOs/SLAs):
- Establish, monitor, and enforce Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for all deployed systems.
- Ensure compliance with customer-facing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and proactively address potential risks to performance metrics.
- Lead the resolution of high-priority incidents, ensuring root-cause analysis is conducted and long-term fixes are implemented.
Cost Control & Optimization:
- Monitor AWS usage and costs, proactively identifying opportunities for cost optimization.
- Implement strategies to balance performance and cost-efficiency across all deployments.
DevOps Processes & Automation:
- Continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and other automated workflows to enhance the efficiency and speed of deployments.
- Implement best practices for infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Ensure compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
AI Integration & Application:
- Leverage AI tools and techniques to enhance DevOps workflows, such as predictive scaling, automated incident detection, and intelligent monitoring.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate AI-driven solutions into the infrastructure and deployment processes.
- Provide detailed documentation of AI-related projects and how they contribute to operational improvements.
Support Team & Issue Resolution:
- Oversee the company’s support team, ensuring customer issues are resolved efficiently and within defined SLAs.
- Develop and maintain a support team roster to ensure 24/7 coverage for mission-critical operations.
- Implement effective issue resolution workflows and escalation procedures for high-severity incidents.
- Analyze support trends and feedback to identify opportunities for system and process improvements.
Qualifications
Experience & Skills:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a DevOps team.
- Expertise in deploying, managing, and optimizing applications on AWS.
- Project management skills including, product-based planning techniques, business case creation & maintenance, and issues & risk management.
- A proven track record of delivering products on time and to budget.
- Creative thinking backed by strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Hands-on experience in troubleshooting complex system and deployment issues.
- Comprehensive understanding of AWS cost structures and strategies for optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and lead issue resolution workflows.
AI Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in applying AI/ML technologies within a DevOps or infrastructure environment.
- Familiarity with AI-driven tools for monitoring, alerting, and predictive analytics.
- Ability to articulate the value and impact of AI solutions in operational scenarios.
Leadership & Communication:
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to inspire and guide teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in time-sensitive environments.
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS DevOps Engineer), or equivalent degree/relevant experience.
- Experience with financial or mission-critical deployments.
- Familiarity with AI tools such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or cloud-based AI services (e.g., AWS SageMaker).
- Strong scripting and programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash).
